Book 3

Fault in Our Stars was a book filled with useless information that made the book seem like you were living inside of it, it made you feel like you were the characters and you could see and think what they saw and thought. A dog’s purpose was a journey through the eyes of a dog. It's Very challenging to write from a point of view of a dog but the author made it work and it was a long and good example of personification. The Fifth wave was a challenge of survival the author’s writing purpose made you fear what the characters feared; it gave both perspectives of the alien invasion it had the silencer have a voice in the chaos that he caused. The survivors got to share their side of the story too and that made the book unique , most books only give you one side of the story.

Survival was a theme in all of these books, even with the different genres. Fault In Our Stars being realistic fiction, a Dogs Purpose as general fiction and The Fifth wave as being science fiction. All books are unique, but they share the theme of survival even though they all survived different things.  Fault In Our Stars focused on the survival of cancer, a very emotional sickness for many of the readers. It made you connect and made you have an idea of what it is like to have this sickness. It pin pointed that Gus and Hazel were not fighting cancer but themselves because they were the cancer. “Like, you are a familiar with the trope of the stoic and determined cancer victim who heroically fights her caner with inhuman strength and never complains or stops smiling even at the very end, etcetera” This is when Gus is talking to Hazel about her cancer and her survival and how she is strong even when she has cancer. A Dog’s Purpose was surviving a world that wasn’t designed for you as it is seen through the eyes of a dog he has many different names and gets to relive life."Because failure isn't an option if success is just a matter of more effort” It shows that to survive you have to try. He doesn’t survive in his first life the big dog hurt him and they had to put him down. He gets to enjoy and experience things that he didn’t get to in the first life; he got those things in his second life. The Fifth Wave showed the theme of survival through an alien invasion and that caused people to flee and look for a safe haven. The aliens were one step ahead and knew that humans like to be together in herds they were a social species. The chaos that Cassie had to go through to survive and understand how she the world was now was different. She went through a struggle to survive this tragedy but for what? The author showed that you aren’t surviving if you don’t have a reason and her struggle is to survive and find a reason why when so many others took their own lives. ““you’re not the only one,” he says through gritted teeth. “ my twelve-year-old sister died in my arms. She choked to death on her own blood. And there was nothing I could do. It makes me sick, the way you act as if the worst disaster in human history somehow revolves around you. You’re not the only one who’s lost everything “Even after the world ends and Cassie and Evan are fighting about being selfish after the world is dead. To survive anywhere you have to be mentally strong and that shows a lot in the book.

Love is another theme found in the three books. Love is shown in Fault in our stars in many ways through the love of the parents and the love of Hazel and Gus. “Even when you die, I will still be your mom, Hazel. I won’t stop being your mom. “Have you stopped loving Gus?” I shook my head. “Well, then how could I stop loving you?” That highlights the love of everyone for each other and how they stay strong even through death and how love is unconditional. In A Dog’s Purpose love is shown between a best friend and his dog and how they could go through everything and they will always love each other “My purpose, my whole life, had been to love him and be with him, to make him happy. I didn’t want to cause any unhappiness now—in that way, I decided it was probably better than he wasn’t here to see this, though I missed him so much at that moment the ache of it was as bad as the strange pains in my belly.” The Fifth wave had love after the world ended they found love to keep each other and they needed each other for company and to keep each other safe. “ I feel his kiss more intensely now, in the darkness of the room were his sister died,” Evan kissed her after they made up after the fight they had and it showed they cared for each other and had each other.
Fault In Our Stars : 5/5 Stars, for the style of writing and the plot line.
A Dogs Purpose : 3.5/5 Stars, for bieng a good book but not catching my attention as well as i would've liked
The Fifth Wave: 4/5 Stars , for bieng suspenseful and having more then one genre

Post 5th

I feel that there should be two different types of non fiction becuase I understand that many of non fictions books like memoirs are the truth but they aren't completely 100 % true . Books like a text book and a book that a doctor would use to learn more about his profesion would be in a different type on non fiction because the truth can not and shouldn't be altered or stretched because many people could possibly be depending on the information to be completely true. I do feel that half truths are okay if you add them to another type of non fiction genre because a good story is still a good story no matter if its true or half true or totally made up. How the truth is bent is another question because if you bent the story to make it more interesting for the reader and make it a better story I would understand that need to please the reader and broden the audience. I feel like we should have genres for books but make more sub genres because books are more complex then just a mystery or just a thriller they have more componets that make the book what it is. Books are like people you cant judge them by just one thing, they have many different things that make them what they are . If you see a person with alot of tattos that doesn't mean that he is a bad person and is a gang memeber you never know if that person could be a doctor or a buisness man that likes to express himself.

Post 4

I think that the movie should show the scene where Erin escapes from Kevin because it would show the freedom she had afterward and show why she had her shields up high. I also think it would be a great thing to add where Alex and Katie get to meet and where they start talking because without them meeting there would be no story. I would also include the scene where Alex gives Katie the note because it makes you feel and makes you think and makes you realize who Jo was.  A scene I would cut out from the book would be when Kevin goes to the barbeque because that doesn’t really do much into what is going to happen or what has happened. Another scene I would cut out would have to be the routine that Erin had to go through every day with Kevin because I think after they show it once they will understand how bad Erin had it.

peculiar

My Idea for an object to have a better fan experience for the book Miss Peregrine’s home for Peculiar Children would be a cigar box that is filled with the pictures from Ms. Peregrine’s as well replicas of the letters from Abe and Emma .the pictures would be of the children demonstrating their amazing talents that made them peculiar. This connects with the book because the book is filled with fascinating pictures with kids with talents such as a boy that can lift a boulder with one hand, a girl that can play with fire, a boy that had bee’s living inside of him and on him. They presented themselves to the world in circus type performances, they loved to show of the talents they possessed they were very anxious to put on a show for Jake.  Emma and Abe had a great relationship before he had to go off and fight in the war, Emma waited for  years and years for him to come back and wrote him countless letter’s but he refused to reply and refused to come back to the loop. Emma has been heartbroken and was looking for love in his grandson that reminded her of him so much. “All right then, we’ll skip all the nice bits and go right to the end. It’s simple, really. He left. He said he loved me and promised to come back one day. But he never did.” Heartbroken as Emma was when he left only thing she could do was send him letter’s begging him to come back home, but that never happened and she is still devastated.  The pictures that Grandpa Portman showed Jake when he was telling him these wonderful stories about the house and the children, came from the house itself and he kept pictures inside his cigar box to share with Jake.  “I could think of only one explanation. My grandfather’s pictures had come from the trunk that lay smashed before me. I wasn’t certain, thought, until I found a picture of freaks: two masked ruffle-collared kids who seemed to be feeding each other a coil of ribbon. I didn’t know what they were supposed to be, exactly- besides fuel for nightmares; what were they, sadomasochistic ballerinas? - But there was no doubt in my mind that Grandpa Portman had a picture of these same two boys. I’d seen it in his cigar box just a few months ago” That made his doubts about his grandpa and his fairytales, go away he had seen it with his own eyes and discovered that whatever was in this house was the children and the answers to what happened to his grandpa. Once he discovers the loop from following Emma into it he gets dragged back into the loop which is 1940 September 3rd, he doesn’t realize that he has gone back in time and he is very confused and there he finds Emma who then takes him back to the house to meet the others and the headmistress . Emma is furious that he dared compare himself to Abe especially as his grandson she gaped in anger at this idea. When he gets there he sees the kids that he has only seen in dreams in pictures. “I watched, astonished, as the centaur’s huge arm bent at the elbow and reached into its chest, plucked out the ball, and tossed it back to the cheering kids. As he game resumed, the wild-haired girl dropped the centaur’s tail, and it went still once more. Millard’s breath fogged the window by me. I turned to him in amazement. “I don’t mean to be rude,” I said, “but what are you people?” “We’re peculiar,” he replies, sounding a bit puzzled. “Aren’t you?”” The idea of the pictures in the cigar box and the letter would make the fan get better into the story and further their experience in such a way because they would be able to see the pictures just as Jake saw them and that would really let you feel what he felt emotionally and physically.

Post 2: what is a book?

Post 2: What is a book?
To me a book is an object that has pages and that has words that interact with each other to provide a message or a story to the audience. Books can be alive or they can be dead it depends on who is in possession of the book, and what they do with it. I feel like it doesn't matter if you have the physical copy or an electronic, they both have pages and they both have words but one is on a tablet or a phone that you must have energy to power the device unlike the physical book all you need in your eyes your mind and a little bit of light and you have created another world for you that you can escape into even for just a little bit. A book is physical and you can subsitute it for something else it was something you can do anywhere and everywhere with just enough light to read the words on the page. You dont need to charge a device and you dont have to worry about the battery being dead if you have a physical book. A book is a fantasy that you can create with your mind it allows you to be a child if you're an adult you can use your mind as you did when you were younger. You get to be creative and picture a world that you would want to live in such as harry potter you dont get to actually be a wizard but when you can go into that world and be a wizard in you're mind it makes a book that more powerful . A book is power and it is a treat for your mind. I think that honestly I cant be the one to say what a book is all i can do is give my opinion, and if you think you know what a book is, you're just lying to yourself its like thinking about the meaning of life you can't really answer that question you might think you know but in all reality you don't. If you're one to tell someone that thier work is not a book, think about who you are and if you're in the position to tell them that you can define what someone else thinks you can only have your own opinion you can change an opinion . A "book" has limitless characteristics such as words, pages, pictures, the rest is up to you and you have to be the creator of what you think a book is . Books have different objectives some are to teach others to entertain but you can never be certain of what a book is.

The reason I read for the most time is for educational purposes, I understand that it promotes imgination and stimulates your imagination. For me I just read because it is a must for school. If it was my choice if was to read or not I would never pick up a book, sometimes when I find a book that fits me, I get glued and cant put the book down but that is very difficult for me to do. I don't have much of an imagination my mind has already thought of everything and the logic behind why it could be possible or why it couldn't be possible and for that reason I think that's why I dont enjoy reading. I read to kill time as well, such as when I go on a trip and my I-pod or other devices die I will pick up a book to kill time. I sometimes read to go to sleep. I also read to keep my grades up it is a must if you want to have good grades and there is no changing that so reading is part of everyones daily life
